BHS Speech & Debate Club

An extra-curricular competition at Bothell High

If you love to talk... or argue...  if you're shy... but wish you weren't... if you’re curious about the world... or just high-energy, a little crazy... AND up for a healthy challenge... with dynamic teenagers like you...

We are BHS Speech & Debate. Welcome to the family!

What are we?

Speech & Debate is more than just a club.

An official academic competition under the WIAA (Washington Interscholastic Activities Association), we meet after school to prepare for monthly tournaments at other schools, culminating in State and Nationals.

As such, Speech & Debate is similar to Mock Trial, Model UN, or FBLA in that its focus is skills-building for life. Enter your choice of a diverse array of competitive events—from debate, to Student Congress, to memorized or impromptu public speaking, to the oral interpretation of literature.

Through regular practice, watch your skills in critical thinking and public speaking blossom. Feel your self-confidence grow. Watch as this growth spills over into other areas of life, in school and beyond. In a supportive community of like-minded others.

Where do we meet?
