Class of 2021 Senior Resources

IMPORTANT MISCELLANEOUS NOTES FOR GRADUATION!

  • Seniors will NOT be able to walk/participate in the graduation ceremony or receive a diploma if there are any outstanding fines! Please check with Jennee Balyeat (BHS Bookkeeper) at the Cashier Window to pay fines and ensure 2021 senior will be able to walk in the ceremony and receive a diploma.

  • Graduates may not decorate caps for the ceremony. Students who decorate or alter a cap in any way will not be allowed to walk.

  • Honor cords are available for pick up from the cashier's office at BHS. Some cords are associated with a fee (TA, FBLA, Health Sciences, and Thespian Society). Others are free. Check with Jennee Balyeat, who will provide cords and the costs.

  • Heels are NOT permitted on the field at Pop Keeney. Graduates need to wear flat shoes.

  • Masks are mandatory for all individuals inside Pop Keeney, regardless of vaccination status.

Graduation Ticket Pick-Up Process

It’s time to pick up your tickets to graduation!  If you do not need tickets to graduation, you can delete this message.

If your student will not be participating in the graduation ceremony, please let us know by filling out the graduation participation form.

  • Each graduate’s family has been allocated a maximum of 4 tickets for the commencement ceremony. Commencement will be live streamed for all those who cannot attend due to the ticket limit.  You do not need to accept all 4 tickets.  You can pick up 1, 2, 3 or 4 tickets, the exact number is up to your family.
  • Families will receive tickets based on the 4 vaccinated/non-vaccinated options outlined below.
  • One important change from prior years is that no tickets can be traded or given to anyone outside your family.  Doing so would be a violation of the Governor’s orders and could pose a significant health risk.
  • There will be a wait list for vaccinated tickets and non-vaccinated tickets should there be extras once all have been distributed. The wait list tickets will be handed out on a lottery system. Families will be notified if they have received extra tickets the evening of June 14th.
  • There will be NO tickets available at Pop Keeney. All families must pick up their tickets at Bothell High School in the Counseling Office.

Option #2: If some ticket holders will be fully vaccinated and past the two-week curative period and others are children ages 2-15 who are not vaccinated and will need to show a negative COVID test within 72-hours of the Commencement Ceremony – to sit in the vaccinated section:

·      Be sure to get the negative COVID test no earlier than Saturday, June 12 at 6:00 PM (72 hours prior to graduation)

·      Bring your children’s negative COVID test and all adult vaccination cards and come to the BHS Counseling Office to get your tickets to graduation

·      No tickets can be given to the vaccinated section without proof of vaccination (or without attestation that the child attending is under 2 years old) or for children 2-15, a negative COVID test within 72 hours of graduation

Option #3: If some ticket holders will be fully vaccinated and past the two-week curative period (or are children under 2 years old) and some will be unvaccinated and you are choosing to sit in two different sections (vaccinated and unvaccinated):

·      Bring photo IDs and vaccination cards for each ticket holder to the BHS Counseling Office to get your tickets to graduation

·      No tickets can be given to the vaccinated section without proof of vaccination (or without attestation that the child attending is under 2 years old)

·      Tickets to the unvaccinated sections cannot be traded for other tickets and ticket holders are expected to maintain physical distance from other family groups in all unvaccinated sections

Option #4: If none of the ticket holders will be fully vaccinated OR if you are choosing to sit in the physically-distanced unvaccinated section:

·      Come to the BHS Counseling Office to get your tickets to graduation

·      Tickets to the unvaccinated sections cannot be traded for other tickets and ticket holders are expected to maintain physical distance from other family groups in all unvaccinated sections

Again, tickets cannot be shared, traded or given to anyone other than the family and individuals to whom they were intended.

You MUST have your ticket and wristband (for vaccinated section) with you to get into Pop Keeney. Wristbands will be given out with tickets.  No tickets whatsoever are available at the door.  Per the Governor’s orders, there will be two different entrances to Pop Keeney – one for ticket holders to the vaccinated sections and one for ticket holders to the unvaccinated sections.  Please be sure to use the correct entrance upon arrival at Pop Keeney.

Credit and Graduation Pathway Waiver Application Form 2021

On March 11th, 2021 the State Board of Education (SBE) adopted emergency rules to establish an emergency waiver program to allow school districts and private schools to waive certain graduation requirements to help prevent students from being unduly impacted by unforeseen disruptions to coursework and assessments resulting from the novel coronavirus emergency (COVID-19), in response to the gubernatorial declaration of emergency on February 29, 2020. These emergency rules apply only to students in the classes of 2020 and 2021 in the 2020-21 school year, and expire on August 31, 2021.

Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply for the emergency waiver:

  • The student was reasonably expected to graduate in the 2020-21 school year;
  • The student has demonstrated postsecondary preparation based on their High School and Beyond Plan;
  • The student experienced a significant disruption to their ability to complete credit and or graduation pathway requirements due to the novel coronavirus emergency.

Students who believe they would benefit from this emergency waiver and meet the eligibility requirements should complete the application form.

There is still time to purchase a cap and gown for graduation. Here is the link to the Josten's website for our school. There are many items that can be purchased if you chose to do so; but for graduation, all you must have is the cap, gown, stole, and tassel unit.

If you did not pick up your cap and gown during the drive through event on April 27th, hybrid seniors are welcome to stop by the Counseling Office to pick them up on your on-campus days only. REMOTE-ONLY SENIORS: you're welcome to come pick up your caps and gowns during Mondays/Tuesdays or Thursdays/Fridays between 1 and 3pm.
