Schedule Changes
The academic/course master schedule and subsequent staffing for each school year is based on the choices students make during the spring registration process. Therefore, it is critical to understand that the choices made by students during spring registration are considered final.
Students who select yearlong classes are expected to commit to that choice for the entire year. You will not be able to drop a yearlong class you selected mid-year and replace it with a semester long class.
Selecting an AP course during spring registration is considered final – All students/families should strongly consider balancing the number of AP courses a student takes in any given school year.
Schedule changes will be made for the following reasons only:
- Missing graduation requirement (seniors only)
- Misplacement/obvious error (wrong class level, missing core class, or hole in schedule)
- Inappropriate placement as determined by the teacher
- Duplicate classes (such as 2 PE classes in same semester)
- Running Start, WANIC or Satellite conflicts
- IEP or ELD placement issues
- Medical necessity with documentation
- Needing college prep class to meet college entrance requirements
- Dropping a non-graduation required class to become a teacher’s assistant (TA) for flexible credit (11th or 12th where credits allow and based on availability)
Semester course changes may be allowed within the first 10 days without penalty. After the tenth (10th) day, courses dropped will receive an ‘F’ grade on student transcript. Any schedule change that does not meet these criteria is subject to administrative approval.
