STEP-UP 2025 - Paid Internship
The NIH High School STEP-UP Program is a nationally recognized program that connects underrepresented students with local institutions and mentors to gain firsthand research experience. This is a paid opportunity- limited to high school Juniors and Seniors- that will introduce students to local professional, collegiate-level settings where they will create and conduct their own research project, garnering essential experience before they enter college.

Biomanufacturing Training Program
- The Biomanufacturing Training Program: has replaced BioPath (though structure and learning outcomes are pretty much the same) and is the 3-quarter long program twice a week after school. The students are not paid anymore, unfortunately, but we have several industry partners that provide mentors, tours, etc. No biotech experience required. Open to rising juniors and seniors.
Butterfly Pediatrics
We are a pediatric occupational therapy clinic in Bellevue, WA. We have openings for volunteer and shadow opportunity at our facility for students currently enrolled in educational programs related to child development or need hours to apply to school for such programs.
You will have the opportunity to observe children with special needs from age 0-13 yrs, and their treatment process at our clinic. Fred Hutch Summer High School Internship Program
The Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP) is an eight-week, full-time paid internship for rising 12th graders. Selected interns attend an orientation day, then begin the internship with one week of hands-on training on laboratory safety techniques and skills in the Fred Hutch Training Labs. The remaining seven weeks consists of supervised shadowing and training in a Fred Hutch host mentor’s research lab. Interns also attend weekly workshops and seminars and make a presentation during the final week. SHIP gives students from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical research the opportunity to explore, clarify, and strengthen their research-related career interests.We encourage all applicants to learn more about our research areas and scientific divisions. Applicants should ensure they meet the eligibility requirements (below) and we recommend assembling application materials early, even before the application opens.

HungerCorps Associates
Brief Description:
Summer HungerCorps Associates help to fight food insecurity by helping families and youth access healthy meals during the summer. Members will deliver meals directly to families’ doors at an apartment complex, serve Grab and Go meals at a community center, or distribute groceries to families at a neighborhood food pantry. Training will be provided in site management, marketing, community engagement, and data tracking – meaningful skills that will both serve our community and be powerful on a resume. Service placements include Seattle, Tukwila, Renton, Auburn, East King County, Kent, and Federal Way.

Providence Summer Program - High School
The summer program is a key component to Providence’s mission of caring for the poor and vulnerable. Additionally, we hope that this experience will help the students:

School of Business at Stevens Institute of Tech
The School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology is offering a paid virtual summer research program for high school students. In this six-week program, students will have the opportunity to work alongside a faculty member from the School of Business and assist them with research in their area of study such as entrepreneurship, marketing, management, economics, and finance. At the conclusion of the program students will complete both a written and oral presentation. The written report will include a literature review, and the oral presentation will include a 5-minute video of a PowerPoint presentation detailing their research findings. The program will run from July 1, 2022 - August 12, 2022, and students will receive a $500 stipend after completing the program.
Eligibility - Applicants must currently be in their junior year of high school (no exceptions).

Seattle Aquarium Youth Ocean Advocate
Youth Ocean Advocates must be enrolled in grades 9–12 in a high school, Running Start or homeschool program at time of application.
We have a limited number of positions to fill each school year and summer. Potential Youth Ocean Advocates must attend one of our orientation sessions. After you attend the online orientation, you’ll receive an application to fill out and return to the Aquarium. From the applicant pool, we’ll select individuals to interview for the program. Islandwood Outdoor Leadership Volunteers

at the Brightwater Education Center Overview:
IslandWood invites children and adults alike to discover a new way of seeing nature, themselves, and one another. In doing so, each person comes to understand their ability to change the world for the better. IslandWood operates traditional day camp programs for campers entering 1 st grade through 6th grade at the Brightwater Education Center in Woodinville. Running from July through mid-August, these programs provide experiences which further IslandWood’s mission of inspiring lifelong learning and environmental and community stewardship.
Position Summary:
Volunteers in Outdoor Leadership (VOLs) assist our staff in delivering educational programming for students in our day camp programs at the Brightwater Center in Woodinville. VOLs partner with a field group of campers for the week, serving as an extra set of hands and modeling excitement for campers. Duties can include logistical support around art projects, teaching short lessons, leading games, and overall working directly with campers and our staff to better learn about the world of environmental education. VOLs are meant to be support and are not responsible for delivering programming on their own, nor do they oversee the safety of campers. Ideally, VOLs commit to a minimum of two weeks of programming.
Qualifications:
- Status as a rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent high school graduate
- Interest in working with children in the outdoors
- Creative, flexible, and able to work closely with a Summer Programs Instructor
- Ability to work as a team member
- Strong work ethic, punctual, and dependable
- Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, children, and parents

UDOC is a free, residential three-week summer education program that aims to foster, affirm, and encourage high school juniors interested in health careers. UDOC runs from July 9th – 29th 2023 on the University of Washington Seattle campus (in-person, depending on COVID-19 University of Washington and CDC guidance.)

Health Science Immersion Program (HSIP)

From science research in a laboratory to medical care in a hospital, there are many health science professionals who are transforming society’s health outcomes. In Summer 2023, we will give high school students an introduction to the academic, research and professional components of the health sciences field. A key focus of HSIP will be helping students consider their future college experience as well as career opportunities through hearing from speakers, engaging in workshops and taking part in a group research article project. Over the last four years over 975 high school students have been introduced to the health sciences field with HSIP.
❖Engage in lectures from 12+ speakers including Science Professors/ PhD Graduate Students from institutions including UC San Francisco, UCLA, Columbia University & Cal State LA about their research as well as health professionals such as a dentist, medical resident physician, respiratory therapist, medical communications manager & pharmacist about their careers
❖ Prepare for college admissions in our facilitator led workshops and engage in our career options and pathways workshops
❖ Work collaboratively on a small group research project to build science inquiry and public communication skills

Summer Planning Academy (SPA)
The Summer Planning Academy (SPA) is a free program for high school students in King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties that introduces them to planning topics through engaging sessions, activities, and site visits led by regional planning experts at Puget Sound Regional Council, colleagues from partner agencies, and leaders from the community. The program encourages students to think creatively about how better planning can help people lead better lives and how to set a career path to become a planner.
It is a four-day program in July and August and includes a $500 scholarship for successful completion. More details about SPA including the dates and the application can be found on our website. The application deadline is May 15, 2023.
A little about Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC). PSRC develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth, transportation, and economic development planning within King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap counties. Unified Summer Internship: Building the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Students commit to work 12hrs/week, 3days/week

1 in-person day in Bothell, Washington (transportation stipend)

2 remote work days per week (laptop provided for students to keep)

We will provide a food stipend for the students, even when working from home.

We are offering up to three internships

The internship comes with a $5,000 scholarship upon completion in addition to the $20/hr pay and stipends.

Seattle Children's Scrubs & Scopes Camp
The application for Seattle Children’s Scrubs & ‘Scopes Camp is now open! Our free, five-day, camp will encourage students to explore various allied health careers by job shadowing Medical Assistants, Pharmacists, Laboratory Scientists, Pharmacy Technicians and Radiology Technologists in a clinical environment.
- Dates: Monday, August 11 – Friday, August 15, 2025
- Times: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Location: Seattle Children’s Hospital Campus, 4800 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105
- Provisions: Lunch is provided to campers each day of camp.
- Housing and Transportation: The program does not provide or arrange housing or transportation for students.

Pasado's Safe Haven - Leaders for Ethics, Animals and the Planet
We are thrilled to introduce you to a new program specifically designed for high school students who are interested in becoming leaders in the areas of animal care and climate solutions! Leaders for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet (LEAP) offers community building, leadership training, and hands-on learning that focuses on animal rescue and care, introductory veterinary medicine, ethics, the impacts of the current food system on the environment and human rights, as well as climate solutions and the future of animal welfare.
As part of the LEAP program, participants will be presented with monthly collaborative curriculum modules at Pasado's Safe Haven along with opportunities to learn from professionals in fields such as animal law, food science, veterinary medicine, sanctuary management, renewable energy, and more.
With former teachers amongst the LEAP founding members, we understand the importance of giving young people the chance to build community with like-minded peers as well as providing opportunities for interactions with role models in their areas of interest. By working together, sanctuaries across the country are excited to offer students the chance to collaborate and build relationships with people who share their interests and values.
Along with an interactive monthly lesson and hands-on workshop at the sanctuary, students will participate in four service hours per month and get training in sanctuary responsibilities, animal care, gardening, rewilding the land, and more. They will also learn basic entrepreneurial skills and will practice public speaking and leadership by learning to effectively educate the community via tours, events, and educational presentations.
The LEAP program will run from October to June each school year, and students will have the opportunity to complete a year-end project and compete with other participants across the country for scholarship money.
Project Girl Mentorship Program
We are a 501c3 organization in the city of Lynnwood that works with young women of color to empower and encourage them through a holistic lens to maximize their authentic potential. We have so many different programs that we run but I’m reaching out to present a scholarship opportunity that we have to offer!
Our Level Up Scholarship Program is structured to prepare incoming Juniors and incoming Seniors for their post-graduation endeavors. From financial aid, mental health, and even different career options. Level Up takes place over 7 sessions, meeting once a month for just 3 hours. The application is currently OPEN! Each mentee has the chance to earn up to $1,000! I have attached the flier for the scholarship to this email along with the link to the application. Please share with any of your students that qualify!
WSDOT High School Internship
If you are interested in a career in public sector infrastructure (transportation, engineering, planning, computer science, and more), this is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job work experience, build your resume, and work side-byside with professional mentors!
INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS • Duration: Up to 3 months (completed before June 30) • Work Hours: 8-16 hours per week (up to 40 hours/week allowed during school breaks) • Pay: Earn up to $4,000 depending on hours and length of time worked
REQUIREMENTS Must be either a high school (junior or senior) or college-level (freshmen, sophomore, or junior) student.
