Student parking on BHS campus IS A PRIVILEGE. This privilege may be suspended or revoked by BHS Administration/Campus Supervisor for failure to meet BHS Campus Expectations described in the Student Handbook, and/or failing to abide by the following guidelines:

1. PARKING PERMITS: Stickers must be clearly visible and displayed on the lower left corner of the front windshield. Your assigned permit may be used ONLY ON THE ABOVE LISTED VEHICLES - NOT IN ANOTHER STUDENT'S VEHICLE. Transferring a sticker to another student is grounds for revocation of parking privileges. Students must park in the lot designated by their sticker. Students must park only in the numbered space assigned to them upon purchase of the parking permit.

2. RESPONSIBILITY: The student listed above is the ONLY student authorized to use the vehicle(s) and must take responsibility for their vehicle being mechanically safe and operated in a safe, mature manner. Careless driving and/or violating basic driving laws on campus or in adjacent neighborhoods may result in disciplinary action and the loss of campus parking privileges. Please park properly in your assigned space, observe the driving laws, and respect our BHS neighbors.

3. SENIOR RESERVED/PAINTED PARKING SPACES: Available to seniors with ASB stickers only. A limit of THREE UNEXCUSED ABSENCES in any month will result in loss of parking spot. It will be painted gray and turned over to standard parking. In that event, NO REFUNDS will be issued.

4. LIABILITY: Students who choose to drive and park on BHS campus do so at their own risk. The Northshore School District and BHS are NOT responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen property. Vehicles need to be secured to protect the sticker and personal items.

5. ACCESSIBLE PARKING: Use of accessible parking spaces requires a valid Washington State disabled parking placard. Students who park in these areas without a valid Washington State disabled parking placard will be fined the maximum penalty. This is a Bothell Police Department ticket, not a school fine.

6. PENALTIES: Failure to observe the above conditions may result in one of the penalties outlined in detail in the Student Handbook. It is your responsibility to know the penalties. Not having a handbook will not be considered an excuse for not being aware of the parking guidelines.

CONSEQUENCES for VIOLATING BHS PARKING RULES:

Each violation will incur a $40 ticket. Subsequent violations will result in a $40 ticket plus graduated discipline including:

  • a. 4-hour Saturday School
  • b. Revocation of campus parking privileges
  • c. Vehicle being towed at student's expense

STUDENT PARKING IS PROHIBITED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

  • a. Staff & Visitor Spaces (all are numbered or otherwise designated)
  • b. Fire Lanes
  • c. Bus Zones
  • d. Accessible Parking Spaces (without a displayed Washington State Accessible Parking placard or plates)

SEARCHES OF STUDENT CARS PARKED AT BHS

  • Any search of a student must be reasonably related to the discovery of contraband items or other evidence of a student's violation of the law or rules governing student conduct.
  • Once reasonable grounds for search of student's clothing, personal effects, desk, locker, storage area or AUTOMOBILE have been established the principal or designee shall have an additional administrator or staff member present as a witness during the search.
  • If evidence of a violation or district rule is suspected and if the student refuses to cooperate in a personal search, the student should be held until the student's parent or guardian is available to consent to the search.
  • By registering to park at BHS students cars may be subjected to a search if there is a suspicion of contraband items.
