How to Export Your Data with Google Takeout
Google Takeout
As you prepare to leave Northshore School District, you may want to keep a copy of your school Google account data—emails, Google Drive files, and more. Google Takeout makes it easy to download everything before your account is disabled.
What is Google Takeout?
Google Takeout is a service from Google that allows you to export and download your data from various Google services, including:
-
Gmail
-
Google Drive
-
Google Photos

-
and more!
Step-by-Step Instructions:
-
Go to Google Takeout

-
By default, all services are selected. You can uncheck any that you don't need.

-
Customize your export settings
-
Delivery method: Choose how you want to get your data (email download link is the easiest).
-

-
File type & size: Choose
.zip
and a size (2GB or larger is fine). If your data exceeds the size limit, it will be split into multiple files.

-
Google will begin preparing your data. This may take minutes or hours, depending on how much data you have.
-
-
Check your email
-
You’ll get a message with a link to download your data once it’s ready. Click the link and save your files to your personal device or cloud storage.
-
Deadline
Be sure to complete your export no later than a year after you leave the district. After that, your school Google account will be deactivated, and your data will no longer be accessible.
